Lagosians make money selling sperm for N50,000

People get married for different reasons. While some seek companionship in marriage, many go into marriage for procreation.  For couples who look forward to having children immediately after marriage, being declared ‘infertile’ by experts is like a death sentence.
While it is generally agreed that it takes two to have a baby and every couple is expected to be in optimum health to have babies, medical experts claim men are having more fertility challenge now.  Sperm concentration in men is said to have decreased by a third since 1990s while sperm count is said to have decreased by half over the past 50 years.
Studies are also showing genetic abnormalities in sperm particularly in older men. For men therefore, quantity, quality and motility of spermatozoa are seen as important factors in fertility.
Since the male factor is a prominent cause of infertility in couples, sperm donation has become vital in assisted conception treatment.
A study by the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction stated that “a male factor is solely responsible in about 20 per cent of infertile couples and contributory in another 30 to 40 per cent.”
According to experts, even when sperm numbers are great, a high proportion of men may have DNA damage that significantly impairs the chances of natural conception. Besides, male sperm deteriorates with age the same way it does for women.
Studies have also shown that if a man has poor health, smokes, drinks too much or has a bad diet, it’s very likely his sperms are also going to be unhealthy

Unexpected Health And Beauty Benefits Of Sex

Who knew a healthy sex life was this good for you?
There are a few things most of us women have in common: we appreciate a decadent dessert, we love a clearance sale at our favorite store and we all wouldn't mind looking and feeling younger and healthier.
Some of us are so devoted to our personal fountain of youth, we invest small fortunes into overflowing bathrooms filled with lotions and potions, visits to trainers, doctors, nutritionists and healers… whatever it takes to find the miracles that will give us smoother skin, fuller hair, less aches and pains, reduce terminal illness risk and just overall, make us feel awesome. Well as it turns out, the secret to youth, might just be right between the sheets: sex!

That's right. Sure, sex feels good, can make you fall more deeply in love, sometimes makes you want to wear a naughty nurse's outfit, you get the picture. But sex is also proven to be good for you, physically. An active sex regimen, a prescription of 2-3 times per week, has fascinating and evidenced-based benefits. Therefore if sex has become a non-priority in your life, you may want to reconsider putting at the top of your "to do" list, because not only could sexcapading result in stronger teeth, it could actually save your life.
Here are 16 health and beauty benefits we reap from having sex:
1. Keeps our skin young and healthy. Sex increases blood circulation, which helps pump oxygen to our skin resulting in a brighter appearance—which explains that after-sex glow. Regular sexual engagement has prolonged effects in this regard and can actually make us look younger. Sex boosts our natural collagen production, which staves off age spots and sagging. So simply put, more wrinkles in the bed = fewer wrinkles on your face!
2. Boosts immunity. You know the old saying, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away"? Turns out there was a typo in that medical journal. It should have said, "Having sex once or twice a week increases levels of an antibody called immunoglobin A (that's the stuff that fights off colds and other infections), which really keeps the doctor away!" Deduction: more sex means a stronger immune system. And with all of those unused sick days, we can cash them out and use them as sex days. Now we're talking!
3. Gives us great hair. Hormones not only control our sex drives, but also the condition of our hair. Research has shown that a satisfying sex life results in healthy, lush hair due to the body's increased ability to receive and metabolize nutrients efficiently. Proof positive that Angelina Jolie and Catherina Zeta-Jones have healthy sex lives!

To really make this advice work, you need to follow these action steps to complete today's challenge.
Right now, I want you to:
Increase your sexcapades!
I get it. Sex can easily get deprioritized in your life when your life is overtaken by seemingly more important stuff like your fabulous job, a packed social calendar, raising superstar kids, arms length errand lists and so on and so on. But, to take advantage of all of the health and beauty benefits that come with sex, you can't just be thinking about it, you have to be doing it!
Thus, it is time to reprioritize your busy life and start putting sex at the tippity top of your to do list. Get creative—consider morning sex if you are zonked in the evenings, remember that quickies totally count, try putting sex right smack dab in the middle of your fave weekly Tivo'd TV show. If need be, pull out your calendar and schedule a couple times a week to get you started. And remember, the more you do it, the more you will likely want it.
Within 7 days I want you to:
Create a seduction sanctuary.
To make sex a routine activity in your life, you need a space that inspires the act. Start with the basics:
1. Get rid of all the clutter in your bedroom. Think a Zen-like haven here—a grown-ups only environment where you can retreat to unwind and relax. Clutter creates anxiety; an uncluttered space will help create the relaxation that precedes passion and seduction.
2. Get a lock for your door if you have kids.
3. Buy a set of luscious linens—high quality thread count and a color that is appealing to you and your spouse.
4. Swap out harsh reading light for soft lighting that helps you look amazing in the flesh.
5. Scatter scented candles around in easy to reach places. Scents such as basil, jasmine, lavender and vanilla all ignite sexual senses.
6. Invest in an iPod dock and create a variety of in-the-mood playlists.
7. Stock your nightstand with massage oils, lotions and other goodies that excite you.
By the end of the challenge I want you to:
Invest in your sex life.
Like all health and beauty regimens, maintaining a happy, healthy sex life is a lifelong commitment, not a one-time quick-fix program. And just like the others, this one to has to stay interesting so we don't lose steam. To ensure you don't hit a sexpiration date, don't be scared to consider purchasing sex toys, from everyday vibrators to silly games to exotic role playing toys like wigs or costumes. Invest in books that teach you new styles of lovemaking. Experiment with new oils, scents and textures to enhance your experiences. Be as creative as you can be to keep your routine as alive and energized as possible. After all, since you are going to be having so much more sex, you need to ensure that it is going to stay spicy!

Stranded Boko Haram militants slaughter members for food in Borno forest

Shocking revelation emerged during the weekend that members of the Islamic violent group, Boko Haram in Magumeri forest, Borno, are beginning to eat themselves after being stranded for days without food or water.
Mallam Momodu Bukar, a suspected member of the outlawed sect told newsmen on Saturday in Maiduguri that he fled the camp at the forest on Thursday when he could no longer cope with the situation.
“I thank God that I escaped because I would have been slaughtered by now to provide meal for my colleagues at the camp,” Bukar said.
According to him, he was captured by a youth vigilante group, popularly known as the civilian JTF at Baga Road motor park, Maiduguri, on Friday.
He said, the extremists had been in the forest since May, when they were dislodged from Marte, Marte Local Government Area, by the Joint Task Force on Operation Restore Order after the declaration of the state of emergency.
“Our group, consisting of about 300 well-armed combatants, headed for Magumeri on the orders of the sect leader, Abubakar Shekau, shortly before the military took over Marte Camp.
“We have been wandering in the forest. We have exhausted our food and water supply, and so, everybody became hungry,” he said.
He said since then, they could not reach their leader, Shekau due to the closure of GSM services by the Defence Headquarters.
He said, “It all started last Monday when three of the combatants in camp died of acute hunger, and it became obvious that all of us will die if action was not taken. The leader of the group, Abu Omar, directed that a non-combatant member be slaughtered to provide meal for the rest.
“The meat provided meal for the combatant for just two days and another person was killed in the same manner on Wednesday. So, it became certain that I might be the next person since I am also a non-combatant member.”
The suspected militant fled the forest after he volunteered to help search for drinking water for the group in a nearby village.
“I left the camp on Thursday evening after agreeing to fetch water from the village. After leaving the camp, I started running until I arrived at Magumeri town, so, I slept in the motor park before boarding a vehicle to Maiduguri with the little money on me.” he said.
An official of the vigilante group, Mallam Ajid Asheik, said the suspect would be handed to the Joint Task Force on Operation Restore Order for investigation.

Article:Social media may yet change governance in Africa by Atiku

I have recently had to answer many questions from friends and contemporaries, seeking to understand why I decided to join social media and expose myself to potential fire from young Nigerians. This is mostly because people who have known me for a long time know me to be a rather quiet person.
But the reality is that over the last months, I have learned that the positives of social media participation far outweigh the negatives.
Social media is where young people, the bulk of Nigeria’s population, gather to share their thoughts, often venting their frustrations with the inefficiencies of the country.
I may not always like what is written about me; indeed some commenters could be very insulting. Our society has always been one where older people expect a lot of respect from younger people, so the relative equality of voice that social media provides may shock newcomers to the platforms.
Overall, social media has allowed me to listen a diverse array of Nigerian voices without filters.
I am going to guess that colleagues in public service may see social media as a threat, and indeed seek to censor social media networks. But I think such an attempt would be a mistake.

Prison Break actor Wentworth Miller(Michael Scofield) comes out as gay

41 years old Michael Scofield in Prison Break came out as a gay man recently via an open letter to the Saint Petersburg Film Festival, rejecting an invitation to attend a premiere there because of Russia's recently-passed anti-gay laws.

The actor wrote:

Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes. However, as a gay man, I must decline.
I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government. The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly.
Perhaps, when and if circumstances improve, I'll be free to make a different choice.
Until then. Wentworth Miller

Ladies: 10 Signs That A Man Is Interested In You

Leaning into Love: If a guy is interested in you, you’ll find that his body will lean forward toward yours. This move can be either very subtle or extremely “in your face” (literally!). It’s his way of letting you know he’d like to get even closer. Once his interest is piqued, you’ll both find it hard to pull away!
Keeping It Even Closer: A vital aspect of the physical nature of romance is reciprocity. Translation: meeting his advances with your own. This not only signals your own interest, but also serves to keep his.
The Eyes Have It: We’ve all heard the proverb, “The eyes are the window to the soul.” If he’s interested in you, he’ll focus on you with those piercing peepers and hold it. Return his romantic gaze with a quiet smile and let him know that you are interested. He’ll be at your side in no time.
Touching Is a Good Thing: If a guy is interested in you, then he’ll want to be near you. He’ll also want to take every opportunity to touch you. Maybe it’s your arm, your leg, your knee — it doesn’t matter, as long as his presence is physical and affectionate. It’s his way of letting you know he likes you.
Funny Meeting You Here: Coincidence is out. Serendipity is in. Those so-called “happy accidents” may not be so accidental after all. Perhaps his “surprise” appearance at your favorite Starbucks or hangout is a signal that he’s trying to connect with you (but doesn’t want you to think he’s a stalker!). Take this as a positive sign and make the most of your next encounter. You may find that you share more in common than just an addiction to double lattes.
Listen Closely: How do you know that you have a guy’s attention? When he’s not talking about himself. It’s that simple. The next time you’re in a bar, listen closely to any table full of men and you will hear them speaking rapturously about their favorite subject: themselves. For a man to shut up and really listen to what you have to say, you know it must be love (or at least a strong attraction). He’ll put that male genetic ADD to rest once and for all after he’s found his Miss Right.
The Guy Who Liked Chick Flicks: Okay, we all know he’d much rather be watching the big game, but it’s an important sign if he shows an interest in the things you like as well. If he’s happy to watch a movie you picked out or doesn’t complain when it’s time to hit the mall for a little shopping trip, you’ve made a serious leap forward in the dating game! Give him extra points if he makes the popcorn.
Funny Lady: Can’t tell a joke to save your life? Does he laugh at it anyway? Men are very in touch with their sense of humor (women often complain that men never take anything seriously, right?), so if he’s sending some hearty laughter your way, it’s a good bet he’s looking at you as relationship material.
Confidence, Man: If a guy’s into you, you make him nervous. He’ll get goose bumps or a rapidly beating heart just from being around you. Look for signs like unexplained laughter, sweaty palms and fidgeting. Guys always want to be in control of their emotions — we like to be in charge. If he has trouble doing that around you, it’s most likely because you make him nervous and excited. Don’t take it for granted; help him to relax, and he’ll thank you by being a great guy you can depend on.
The Feeling Is Mutual: Men and women have very different brain chemistries: She is verbal; he is not. He is driven by visual desires, while she is guided by her deep emotions. Women are taught to rationally express their feelings and feel no shame in crying, and men punch things. Therefore, if you get a guy to actually open up and express his emotions, consider it a major achievement in your relationship. Discussing your feelings for each other is a powerful bonding experience for the two of you and serves to strengthen a relationship for whatever challenges the future may bring.

ASUU: STRIKE TO BE CALLED OFF VERY SOON AS JONATHAN APPROVES N400Billion

The end to the present strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) may be in sight as President Goodluck Jonathan has approved N400 billion for the infrastructural development of Nigerian universities. The document to this effect is expected to be made available today at the meeting of the presidential committee on implementation of the NEEDS assessment in the universities with the leaders of the four university-based unions – the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non- Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The President of SSANU, Samson Ugwoke, made the revelation while addressing his union members at the SSANU National Executive Committee (NEC)meeting held at the weekend at the University of Abuja. Ugwoke, briefing the SSANU members on the activities of the NEEDS assessment implementation committee, led by Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam. He noted that the fund was different from the N100 billion Governor Suswam had raised from donor agencies and big companies to tackle the problems of Nigerian universities in 2013. The labour leader said: "Let me give you a tip on what the NEEDS assessment committee is doing. The president has approved that within the next four years; N400 billion would be expended in infrastructural development of Nigerian universities, to transform the universities to international standard. "N100 billion has already been raised by Suswam committee out of which 61 universities have been pencilled down, as contained in the NEEDS assessement committee. The N100 billion is expected to address needs of the universities in the areas which include re-furbishing and renovation of lecture theatres and lecture halls, re-furbishing and renovation of laboratories/libraries and the renovation of hostels. "The second category is building of new hostels of international standard, self- contained rooms, the latest model in the world. That is the standard to be built in every university, and also the state-of- the-art laboratories as well as classrooms, lecture theatres and the halls." Ugwoke pointed out that the money had been shared and out of the N100 billion, N96 billion had been sent to universities. He added: "The committee is meeting again on Monday, and by Monday (today), the document will be out. This time around, it is not only by giving university money, but it will be monitored to ensure that the money is used to transform the universities, to bail universities out of the present situation and developed to an international recognized university standard." The President of SSANU, Samson Ugwoke, made the revelation while addressing his union members at the SSANU National Executive Committee (NEC)meeting held at the weekend at the University of Abuja. This time around, it is not only by giving university money, but it will be monitored to ensure that the money is used to transform the universities, to bail universities out of the present situation and developed to an international recognized university standard." Jonathan Is Being Confused By Those Around Him ––Obasanjo

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has advised President Goodluck Jonathan to beware of some of his aides who are confusing him and making more enemies for him in the pretext of doing their jobs.
“Obasanjo did not mince words in telling President Jonathan the bitter truth. He told him clearly to beware of some of his aides who are making life difficult for him through their unguarded utterances that are making more enemies for him”.
He also advised Jonathan to start running an inclusive government so as to douse tension in the ruling PDP.

Obasanjo gave the advice during one of the marathon meetings held on Wednesday, shortly after he returned from Ibadan for the continuation of the peace meeting he was having with PDP governors in the presidential villa. Some of the governors and party chieftains, including some members of Jonathan’s kitchen cabinet, were in attendance.

Obasanjo was also said to have reconciled with Jonathan over the endless political feud concerning the 2015 poll after the latter reportedly tendered an unreserved apology to Obasanjo, who vowed to discourage any aggrieved governor from defecting to the opposition.

According to a credible presidency source, both Jonathan and Obasanjo have met not fewer than four times over their differences and the one between the aggrieved PDP governors and Tukur. The source added that it was the process of restoring normalcy to the party that forced the president and Obasanjo to bury their differences in order to save Jonathan from defeat come 2015.
The fear of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is the reason Jonathan begged Obasanjo to intervene.
